Structure

The EC invited each Ministry for Culture to nominate an expert in the field of digitisation to coordinate National Digitisation Policies and to work together at a European level in a National Representative Group (NGR). Its stated mission is to monitor progress regarding the objectives encapsulated in the Lund Principles.

One of the consequences was MINERVA.

MINERVA is a network of Member States' Ministries to discuss, correlate and harmonise activities carried out in digitisation of cultural and scientific content for creating an agreed European common platform, recommendations and guidelines about digitisation, metadata, long-term accessibility and preservation.

This is Minerva structure:

  • Partners
A core group, responsible for day to day management of the network.

  • National Commissions
Each Minerva partner established a National Commission to coordinate the ongoing activities on digitisation.

  • Project working groups
They involve experts, research centres, enterprises and institutions belonging to the 15 EU Member States, plus other non-EU countries which are interested to join the discussion to concertate their efforts in this field.

  • Project Management
The 6th Service of the Italian Ministry General Secretariat is responsible of Minerva coordination activities.
