Resource: The Council for Museums, Archives
and Libraries is a strategic agency funded by the UK Government's
Department for Culture, Media and Sport established in April 2000.
Our objectives are to:

Provide strategic leadership and promote change,

Act as an authoritative advocate and champion for our sector

Advise Government and the sector on best practice and the delivery
of specific objectives
Specific tasks being carried out by Resource
to improve public access and to raise the quality of services include:

Reporting on the future of Regional museums in England

Research to demonstrate the impact of museums, archives and libraries
on key Government agendas

Identify what needs to be done to improve the quality of leadership
across the sector

The development of national standards measuring the quality of services
provided by museums, archives and libraries

The management and development of the People's Network project,
which will connect all the UK's public libraries to the World Wide
Web by 2002, enable training for all public librarians and create
a wide range of digital content

libraries
