"The Virtual Museum of Canada Portal: Three Years Later"

ABSTRACT

The Virtual Museum of Canada (VMC) has created a lot of
attention in the museum community in Canada and abroad since its
official
launch in 2001. Spearheaded by the Canadian Heritage Information
Network
(CHIN), this portal aims at engaging heritage professionals in the
creation
and presentation of high quality digital content while increasing its
visibility to diversified audiences. In addition to describe the unique
model of the VMC, this presentation will discuss the results of this
initiative in light of performance indicators as well as identify
options
and challenges that await CHIN and its members in the coming years.
